چکیده

Ealier observations in this laboratory have demonstrated that tetrabenazine, a brain monoamine releaser, antagonizes morphine analgesia in mice (1) and that it antagonizes the depressive effects of morphine on the several afferent pathways in the central nervous system in cat (2). More recently it has also been demonstrated that the change of brain noradrenaline (NA) plays more important role than that of serotonin (5-HT) in the antagonism of morphine analgesia by tetrabenazine or reserpine (3) and that morphine decreases the content of dopamine (DA) as well as that of NA in the brain (4). The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of tetrabenazine antago nism of morphine analgesia in relation to DA and NA content in the brain.

The parasites of genus Leishmania are the causative agents of one of the most widespread and devastating diseases. According to follow-up data, these medications may provoke adverse drug reactions, drug resistance, relapse as well as financial burden. The mechanism of action of opioid drugs are primarily exerted via transmembrane G-protein coupled receptors. One of the potent synthetic immunomo...

The development of tolerance to and of physical dependence on morphine following intraventricular injection in the rat.

cal Hazards, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Tokyo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. The mechanism of the development of tolerance to and of physical dependence on morphine has been examined from a wide range of aspects. One of the approaches is to investigate the participation of brain biogenic amines in the actions of morphine. In 1954 Vogt (1) found a reduction of the content of hypothala...

اثرات تزریق عوامل دوپامینرژیک گیرنده‌های D2 در هسته لوکوس سرولئوس بر علائم قطع مصرف نالوکسان در موش‌های صحرایی وابسته به مرفین

Background: Opiate-induced addiction is a main social problem in Iran. As treatment of this problem is a health priority among the medical community, studies on this topic are very crucial. The exact mechanism of dependence on opiates and their withdrawal syndrome remain unclear. It seems that dopaminergic system and locus coeruleus (LC) have an important role in the expression of somatic signs...

Antagonism by Tetrabenazine of the Depressive Effects of Morphine on the Central Nervous System.

pathways in the central nervous system in rabbits and cats, like those of morphine (2). The questions arise whether the antagonistic effect by tetrabenazine of the central effects of morphine can be recognized in other species besides mice, whether all of the depressive actions of morphine on the afferent pathways of the central nervous system are suppressed by the tetrabenazine pretreatment, a...
